Common Questions About Overhead Garage Storage
Clearance requirements depend on the storage system, garage ceiling height, vehicle height, door movement, opener location, lighting, and the items being stored. We measure these conditions before recommending a configuration.
Capacity varies by product, mounting method, ceiling structure, rack dimensions, and manufacturer specifications. The stated capacity of the selected system must always be followed, and stored weight should be distributed as directed. We will review the applicable limitations for your installation.
In some garages, storage can be positioned above the open garage door, but only when sufficient clearance exists and the system does not interfere with the door, tracks, springs, opener, lighting, or required access. The area must be measured and evaluated before installation.
Overhead storage is generally unsuitable for hazardous materials, flammable liquids, leaking containers, temperature-sensitive belongings, extremely heavy objects, or items that must be accessed frequently. Heavy items should be kept on lower shelving whenever practical.
